Not only CFLs but …
Not only CFLs but ALL fluorescent bulbs have contained mercury since 1978. Does anyone remember how mass cases of folks having mental depression, ADHD, Alzheimers, and many more neurological problems including autism has increased since then? Look up Mercury poisoning to see all the symptoms. We are like sheep, bah bah bah. Wake up America we’re being slowly poisoned, making China richer, and health care corps richer, at the expense of our health.
Not a waste of time …
Not a waste of time, but the National implementaion of CFLs could limit your time here on earth. Mercury is a TOXIC waste and if the glass is broken it also has a TOXIC vapor. How many folks do you think will dispose of these bulbs properly? How many folks even read the small print on a light bulb package? It is insidious how we are being used as pawns in trade agreements with China perhaps as part of the deals we made with them when borrowing so much money from them. Ted Poe speaks the truth!

This guy is angry for all the wrong reasons. I thought he was going to go in the intelligent direction with his time before congress when he mentioned the constitution. And yet he is only bickering about how much of a hassle the bulbs are and not the fact that it is his right to choose which light bulb to use and if the market not congress forces him to use said bulbs then so be it!

Everybody should be aware now of LED bulbs as a superior alternative. No mercury whatsoever, no glass, super efficient and last more than 5 times longer than CFL

Mercury is used in a lot of applications in this country, especially construction and manufacturing. People would be surprised if they knew.
Even knowing that, I do not agree with this mandatory CFL use. It’s bullshit. Just one more useless law cluttering up the books. We need fewer laws, not more; we need to make the ones we already have WORK. This is just more busywork/bureaucracy.
