What is the fuel economy for the 2008 F250 Superduty?
I have been looking at the 2008 Ford SuperDuty F250. The dealer sticker and sales man are reluctant to give any fuel economy numbers. Does anyone have any realistic ideas?
I am looking at the Diesel motor… Standard in the F250 series..
It depends on which engine. I have a 2003 with 4 wheel drive and a V10 and it get about 10mpg city and15 hwy.

they are as stated on the window sticker. Real world numbers are between 8-20 mpg. The thing that effects milage the most on the truck is exhaust temps. when the truck is able to perform passive regenration of the dpf the milage will be better. If the truck requires a forced regen it will began to add extra fuel to the exhaust to incress dpf and doc temps to aid in the regen process thus making your milage go down.
I will say that this truck has been for sale sence 01/01/07 and has had few issues. The shop I work at has had only 3 complete engine failers all caused by extream overheating conditions. There is a knowen concern of a bad batch of radiators that seems to have been corrected

I had a 01 Expedition 5.4L 4wd which Ford boasted 240HP and am hauling a 7500 lb boat. I experienced no power problem but it soon became apparent that the Expedition was not going to handle the load. I tried beefing up the suspension adding by Timbren snubbers, new shocks, and new set of sneakers but it turned out all for naught. Rather than to end up possibly hauling my boat off of someones front lawn I moved up to a 08 F250SD 4wd 5.4L.
Quite frankly expected a little better than the cummy 11-12 mpg average and at 300hp the truck seems somewhat power starved. Since the truck is new I really can't offer an accurate power evaluation until the engine breaks in but I can tell you that it does sit a little heavy on my list of concerns.
The suspension is much better suited for hauling and is having no problem towing the 7500 lb load.
It seems that Ford has simply found another way to hide poor economy issues from the consumer by stating that they do not have to post the economy ratings on trucks. As for the sales bananas, I have not met one yet that would not try to sell their grandmother's gold teeth if they could make a buck on it. So in retrospect you can get a consumers concensious of opinion and base your purchase decisions on your own research but it is really ends up a guess when it comes to the manufacturers ratings. Shame on Ford. The larger engines also get the same crummy milage and the diesel has an extra value added 1.00/gal federal tax that you will realize at the pump every time you stop for fuel. I guess in hindsight I would have chosen the V-10 if I knew that I would be getting around the same milage. It would have offered a little piece of mind knowing I had the extra horses and torque under the hood.
I really wish the fed would force these car companies to stop overrating and inflating the vehicle specs just to beat the competion and sell it's products. Where are the Ralph Naders when you need them?
Otherwise, I can tell you it is one great ride and this power vs economy issue remains the sole differential.
Hope this helps
