Tim Shaw finds ways of spending less money on fuel. As petrol and diesel prices near £6 a gallon, he softens the blow for some lucky drivers in Bedfordshire by personally refunding them while they fill up on the forecourt. Then Tim gets scientific, testing some of the different ways to make cars more economical.

The air temperature …
The air temperature dropped due to the rain and its evaporation effect, this makes the air much denser, so the Air Fuel ratios will change, denser air needs more fuel, hence their result, This guy did not even know that! Plus rain adds frictions because the tyres pick it up and spin it out side ways! even a teenager can figure that out!

When you drain the …
When you drain the fuel out there’s still some fuel left in the pipes. The best way to measure MPG is to fill up the tank fully, then drive, then fill up fully again. You’ll know exactly how much fuel was used, it will be shown on the meter. A decent report otherwise.
